2020 = 13 years of Walk-a-Thon!
The Walk-a-Thon was started thirteen years ago to honor Sandy McDermott, a Nichols' math teacher who passed away suddenly in the middle of the school year of a heart attack. The community came together to honor her spirit and the Walk-a-Thon was born. Over the years we have raised money for a variety of charities, as well as for the Nichols' PTA, several academic departments at the school, and scholarships given to former Nichols' students on their way to college. In addition to raising money, each year we remember Mrs. McDermott's spirit and have an amazing celebration after the walk. This year 7th and 8th grade teams will compete against each other to see who can raise the most money and the 6th grade teams will also compete with one another to win prizes. The goal for each homeroom is to raise $1000! Get ready for the BEST DAY OF THE YEAR! |
